Chiang Mai Bitcoin Community: Empowering Communities Through Education
Since the grand opening of the Bitcoin Learning Center (BLC) on September 7, 2024, Bitcoin Chiang Mai has been transforming Northern Thailand into a hub for financial literacy and modern finance. Operated by Bitcoin Chiang Mai Co., Ltd. in Wat Ket, Chiang Mai, this non-profit initiative promotes long term financial empowerment through Bitcoin a decentralized asset with a fixed supply that no government can manipulate.
Global Connections, Local Impact
At the Tokyo Bitcoin Base Grand Opening in late April 2025, our Director and Co-founder met with Plan B Network to discuss integrating their globally recognized curriculum used at MIT and Georgetown University into our programs. This collaboration, alongside other top-tier international digital assets and Bitcoin resources, will create a world-class educational offering, cementing Chiang Mai’s role as a hub for cutting-edge financial education.
A Movement in Motion
Reaching Marginalized Communities: This past weekend, the Bitcoin Chiang Mai team traveled to the Omkoi region to educate marginalized children from hill tribes on basic savings and Bitcoin’s potential. We also introduced them to AI tools like Grok and ChatGPT, empowering them to bridge the digital divide and stay competitive.
University Outreach: The BLC has presented at three major universities in Northern Thailand, emphasizing financial inclusion and literacy.
Academic Innovation: In partnership with Chiang Mai Rajabhat University and Provincial Administrative Organization, we’re developing a pilot program for an accredited course on digital assets and Bitcoin. We’re also collaborating with Saylor Academy to introduce a digital assets curriculum to four Chiang Mai high schools.
Government Collaboration: As the first Bitcoin community in Asia to work closely with local government, the BLC partners with the Provincial Administrative Organization (PAO) through the “Innovate Chiang Mai” initiative. On May 16, 2025, we held our first class for 30 city staff members, with bi-monthly meetings with the Deputy Mayor of PAO Chiang Mai.
Community Engagement: Our weekly podcast, launched less than 90 days ago, has reached over 60,000 Thai people, sharing stories of how Bitcoin protects savings from inflation and transforms lives.
